ABOUT US

The proceeds from every item purchased here fund projects supported by Colorado Nepal Alliance (CNA), a U.S. based nonprofit.  CNA is an all-volunteer organization.

CNA began in 2012 as the service project Shoes for Sherpas, which brought footwear to Nepali porters and villagers.

In 2014, CNA was incorporated as a 501c(3) nonprofit, and embarked on small projects such as uniforms for students, a medical capacity survey, and the building of a classroom in Darkha VDC (Dhading district of Nepal).

Everything changed on April 25, 2015, when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck, with the epicenter only 20 km from Darkha.  CNA contributed to disaster relief efforts, including the purchase of rice, tarps, and tents.  Later that year, CNA embarked on school rebuilding projects at three separate primary schools in Darkha.

Now that the majority of schools in Darkha have been rebuilt by CNA and other donors, CNA has shifted its focus to projects that enhance the health and education of Darkha's citizens.  We've provided teacher training programs at the area's primary schools, done small projects to provide needed upgrades to schools (such as desks, solar lighting, and a perimeter fence), and held our first Women's Health Camp in Feb. 2020.  Over 90 women attended a follow-up camp after COVID ended, with 17 travelling to Kathmandu for pelvic floor repair surgeries, polypectomies, or consultations in late 2022 and early 2023.

We are now investigating holding a women's health camp in far Northwest Nepal - stay tuned for updates!
